Southern Counties Senior Foursomes Qualifier
Suffolk Seniors were competing against Norfolk, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire at The Bedfordshire Golf Club on Thursday 4th July when they were attempting to reach the finals of the Southern Counties Foursomes Championship. The final to be held at Exeter Golf and Country Club on Monday 16th September.
Paul Buckle and Trevor Hellyer won both of their matches whilst Roger Taylor and Steve Duffety, Steve Mann and Graham Shillings and Simon Bearman and Adrian Studd all won one and lost one. Steve Whymark and Kevin Brooks lost their morning match and halved in the afternoon and had Captain, Kevin Brooks holed a 4 foot putt on the last they would have tied on 6 points each with Cambridgeshire and progressed on the holes won rule.
In the event Cambridgeshire qualified for the final on 6.5 points with Suffolk 5.5, Bedfordshire 4.5 and Norfolk 3.5.
