County Boys Winter Training at Aldeburgh GC

Aldeburgh GC recently played host to a joint Winter Coaching session for the U18 and U16’s Boys squads.

The boys were split into two groups based on handicaps and were led by PGA professionals Keith Preston and Lawrence Dodd.

They were joined for the final day by two boys from the Under 14 squad, George Swallow (Halesworth) and Bailee Taylor (Felixstowe Ferry), both of whom have a single figure handicap index and have impressed the coaches of the Under 14 squad.

Throughout the winter the boys have undertaken a series of skills challenges for putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play and driving accuracy for which they were awarded points. Further points were awarded for challenges at the final session which were added to the scores throughout the winter and for which there was also a separate prize.

The winner of Group 1 was Harry Brinded (Thorpeness) and the winner of Group 2 was Liam Buggs (Aldeburgh). Josh Harrison (Aldeburgh) won the challenges on the final day. They were each presented with a prize by Head Coach, Keith Preston.
